This website documents my professional curriculum from 1980 until 2011. In 2012 I changed my name to Miki Mappin, and my gender to female. I was born in South Africa and was raised and began my career in Canada. During the 1990s I lived and worked in Barcelona, Spain. I am presently based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

I am a designer, specialized in theatre, skillful at site-specific, 3 dimensional projects. I enjoy solving problems. I am a pacifist, in favour of cooperation, expression and appropriate technology. My favorite tool is the pencil, but I now spend more time using a computer.

I studied Fine Arts at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, specializing in sculpture. I gained my early professional experience in the planning, design and construction of public sculpture installations and museum exhibitions. I began to design for the theatre in 1983. I have designed sets, costumes and lighting for shows in Canada and Spain.

From 1990 to 2003 I specialized as a Theatre Consultant for the renovation and construction of theatre buildings. I taught and helped develop a post-secondary course on the history and design of theatre buildings for students of direction and technicians at the Institute of Theatre of Barcelona.

From 2002 until 2011 I was employed full time by the Western Development Museum as Exhibits Designer. In 2005 I began to study and perform dance and movement.

I serve as a member of the Board of Directors of Dance Saskatchewan Inc.
