Opened after renovations in 2002
I began working on the project for the Broadway Theatre with Allan Duddridge in 1996. We held consultations and made proposals.
These sketches, done in 2001, explored different possibilities for the stage. Other challenges included audience emergency exit routes, loading access, the projection screen, dressing rooms and performer washrooms.
The interior was stripped back to the cement and bricks. A temporary wall and screen were erected and a reduced audience was able to continue watching films in the evenings.
Construction progressed rapidly.
The theatre nearing completion.
